Seasonal Snippets - January
After the school holidays finish in the first week of January, most baby and toddler groups are back to normal from the 8th meaning that a semblance of normality is returning to our weeks. It is tinged with a touch of sadness at the same time, however, as visiting family leave and parents go back to work. But it is not all doom and gloom, January is a great time to re-group, take stock and prepare for the year ahead and all the adventures still to come!
What we're looking forward to
Getting fit for 2018.
Did you know there is a Reigate Priory Junior Parkrun as well as the adult one? The course is 2km and for children 4-14 years.
What we're making
Boxes, boxes, boxes!
If Christmas saw the arrival of lots of new toys then January is the month for making the most of we have at home and what child doesn't enjoy a good old box. Usually in our house 'box craft' involves some sort of letterbox for posting, but I really liked this idea from Squiggle, Dot & Squeeze for a car wash. More info >
What we're reading
The Great Pet Sale by Mick Inkpen
This has been a glorious library find that we have enjoyed and renewed several times. Lovely illustrations, pop-ups and cut-outs enhance a very sweet story about choosing a pet. More info >
Everything in the pet shop must go, even the rat with half his whiskers missing! 'I'm only 1p. Choose me, ' he calls. But first, the little boy must look through all the other animal bargains...
What we're feeding
Lets be honest - there's not a lot of home baking going on in January. In fact, our greatest achievement so far has been home-made popcorn!
How we're relaxing
Coffee, coffee, coffee! At Find My Reigate we like nothing more than a hot cup of coffee whether it is in Emma and Craig's kitchen while the kids play, supporting our favourite local coffee shops, out of a thermos flask on a cold walk on Reigate Hill, or simply curled up under a blanket - it makes us feel happy and helps us to get through day and if you call if Hygge it's fashionable too!
